1. Support NC Wildlife Resources Commission: Assist with ongoing efforts to enhance and maintain the underwater habitat and aquatic vegetation B. Everett Jordan Lake by providing a minimum of seven volunteer club members.
2. Enhance Fishing Areas: Add up to 6 additional artificial structures to the lake to improve fishing habitats.
3. Foster Community Engagement: Encourage participation from club members and local bass fishermen by sponsoring 6 trophy trees with signage denoting the partnership with NC Wildlife Resources Commission and fisheries biologists.

Team members from FLR outdoors, LLC and interested anglers will construct and place up to 6 commercially acquired artificial habitat structures.

Yes, NCWRC fisheries biologists have been directly involved in the planning and implementation to include site selection for the habitat structures.

NCWRC has a long-term project to which this project has been synchronized.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) has ongoing underwater habitat features within B. Everett Jordan Lake. Our club initially assisted fisheries biologists with DNA fin sampling studies and F1 stocking initiatives on the lake in 2022. We would like to add to our assistance at the reservoir though this proposal. Due to the flood-control nature of the system, the lake’s underwater habitat has severely degraded over time requiring artificial structures to hold baitfish and support the bass and crappie populations. Working with Friends of Reservoirs, additional funding will allow us to purchase more materials and expand existing enhancement areas within the lake.
The species impacted include largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, gizzard shad, and catfish. Providing enhanced aquatic habitats will offer shelter for these fish and more fishing opportunities for the general public. The artificial habitats will also offer immediate areas for fishing.

We have already co-hosted a seminar with NCWRC fisheries personnel that was aimed at informing area anglers and local fishing clubs of the current state of the lake and project updates. We will continue to use our online and social media presence to improve project participation.
