Hello everyone, our RFHP representatives and members have had some outstanding discussion regarding our approach to identifying great habitat projects. Many thanks to Craig Walker and the members of the Western Division states for their thorough feedback and for bringing this to wider attention in the partnership at our 2024 Annual Meeting last fall!
We are gearing up for the May 21 meeting where we will discuss these points, as well as other sticky points that help or hinder our members from getting engaged and being successful at getting grants. To best spend our time, please vote buy ranking the possible agenda items in order of importance to you!
Here are the many agenda items considered:
- Review of Craig Walker’s top discussion points
- More eval of including angler groups/local partners
- How to score match ratios (if we have flexibility)
- Region-wide funding pots to help with match need
- Partnering with other FHPs or NGOs
- Scoring criteria that judges fairly across ecoregions
- Minimum criteria for funding - when we should say no
- Keeping grassroots members engaged
- Membership fees annual vs. one-time, keeping FOR groups engaged

- Bass Pro Outdoor Fund -Strategies to include how to handle RFPs, branding and outreach, pursuit of a long-term large and medium grant opportunities.
