New Product from FOR Sponsor NATRX

Getting larger fish habitat deployed can be expensive and logistically challenging. NATRX now has hand-deployable fish habitat structures and shoreline stabilization units, packaged together as a pond management restoration kit. Learn more below!

At a high level, the EZ Form Resilience Kits were developed to meet demand for shoreline and restoration work in places where heavy equipment access is limited or not practical. That demand originally came from oil and gas and industrial clients working in constrained sites, and over time expanded to municipalities, NGOs, and individual landowners looking for simple, low impact erosion and habitat solutions.

The EZ Form system is fully hand deployable and modular. Each kit protects roughly twenty linear feet of shoreline and includes multiple organically shaped concrete units along with stone bags for leveling and scour control. The units interlock naturally, follow site contours, and are designed to slow water, reduce wave and flow energy, and trap sediment while still allowing water and nutrients to move through the system.

From an application standpoint, we most often see these used for:

  • Small pond
  • Lake shoreline stabilization
  • Creek banks
  • Drainage channels
  • Living shoreline and vegetated sill projects
  • Community or volunteer driven restoration efforts.

In some cases, groups are focused more on ecological uplift alone. In those situations, the EZ Form units can be purchased individually and placed selectively to create structural habitat for fish and wildlife without the need for a full shoreline installation.

Performance wise, the system is designed to immediately reduce water velocity and wave force at the shoreline, creating calmer conditions for sediment to settle and vegetation to establish. Over time, the system becomes more stable as plants root in and material accumulates around the units, resulting in a natural looking shoreline edge that blends into the environment rather than appearing like traditional hard armoring.
