Friends of the Reservoirs

Your help is needed to save our historic reservoirs and the entire Portland Bull Run Water System from this "one size fits all" EPA rule! The Friends have had many successes, but much is yet to be done! We need new ideas and new energy to continue our task!

The City is currently in the process of finalizing a budget that includes hundred's of millions of dollars for as of yet unrequired and unnecessary Bull Run filtration; destruction/decommissioning of our open reservoirs; and building alternate storage.

As deadlines approach related to City compliance with the EPA's LT2 rule, Friends of the Reservoirs is pressing for vigorous pursuit of a Congressional "waiver" exempting Portland from the misguided rule's mandates to cover, bury or filter the open reservoirs, and to further treat our pristine Bull Run source water.

Related public meetings with City Council and our Congressional delegation or their staff members are being planned for the first half of March. For details, please contact us at friendsofreservoirs1to6@msn.com.

Supporters are encouraged to write to City Council and the delegation members and their staff in support of the Congressional "waiver" for both the open reservoirs aspect and the source water treatment aspect. See our "Get Involved" page for their contact info.
